4D Prenatal Ultrasound

Imagine being able to see your baby's features and movements before he or she is born.

4D Ultrasound is the latest in prenatal technology and has allowed mothers and fathers a bonding experience like no other. The Imaging Center was the first facility in North County to offer this amazing technology. We employ board-certified sonographers and radiologists, so you and your physician can be confident you are getting the comprehensive and professional care you need.

Scans are limited to 15 minutes in compliance with federal standards and regulations. You should, however expect to be in the exam room for about 45 minutes to allow time for preparation and explanation of your exam. An 18 to 24 week diagnostic exam is required prior to having an elective prenatal scan. If you have not already had this exam, The Imaging Center can perfrom this exam for you with an order from your doctor.

The most desireable time to have a 4D prenatal scan is between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. The most ideal time to view twins is before 28 weeks.

A messages for patients and physicians:

The Imaging Center is a professional, free-standing, full-service diagnostic radiology facility. To perform Elective Prenatal Exams, we use the GE Logiq 7 from GE Medical Systems. The software component in this advanced system is what creates these amazing images, not a higher intensity of sound waves. In fact, the system uses the same intensity as a 2D ultrasound system.

Our ultrasound technologists are board-certified and are experienced in performing traditional 2D diagnostic exams as well as elective prenatal exams. This allows us to provide a report documenting the findings of a limited 2D diagnostic exam performed before each session that will be available upon your request. This limited exam is not meant to replace the prenatal care that a patient recieves from her primary care physician
