TIC Offers Your Patients a Full-Range of Nuclear Medicine Tests

The Imaging Center has long been a provider of vital Nuclear Medicine testing procedures to patients in the greater North County area. We are proud to be one of the few outpatient centers in St. Louis offering such procedures.

What makes Nuclear Medicine so special?
The information provided by nuclear medicine examinations is unique and often unattainable using other imaging procedures.
For many diseases, nuclear medicine scans yield the most useful information needed to make a diagnosis.
Nuclear medicine is less expensive and may yield more precise information than exploratory surgery.


One common Nuclear Medicine Test ordered at The Imaging Center is a Bone Scan (3 phase or Total Body). Certain diseases can alter the blood flow to the bones and the bone scan can reveal abnormalities that may indicate disease. Bone Scans can be helpful in the diagnosis of:

• Metastatic Bone Disease
• Paget’s Disease
• COPD
• Inflammatory Polyarthritis
• Infections (osteomyelitis)
• Avascular Necrosis (osteonecrosis)

Another valuable Nuclear Medicine procedure performed at TIC are Thyroid Scans (Thyroid Uptake /Parathyroid Scans). These procedures are performed to determine the function of the thyroid gland. Many physicians order a Thyroid Scan in order to diagnosis certain diseases and conditions, such as:

• Graves disease
• Toxic multi-nodular goiter
• Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
• Hyperthyroidism
• Additional Nuclear Medicine Testing performed at The Imaging Center includes:
• DISIDA Scans
• Liver/Spleen Scans
• MUGA Scans
• Spect Scans
